A CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK

Last summer I was driving with a friend sitting in the passenger seat when all of a sudden, I said "get the potato chips now"! He looked at me baffled, and then I said, "I saw a sign saying there was a dip in the road"! I was hoping for french onion. Most of you would say that, well, chips come out of a bag, but they first originate from a round block called a potato. You see they chip away at the potato when they are on the chopping block. Then they are deep fried, and you have a snack that is heavenly. I don't know about you but when I eat chips in the vehicle, not all of them make it to my mouth. Some scurry in the crack between the seat and the console, especially when I'm at the bottom of the bag. I need to have a consultation about the console with myself because I just seem to let the chips fall where they may. That's right the chips are down and eventually the vacuum needs special attention, and let me tell you, the vacuum becomes all that and a bag of chips. Regardless, “A CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK " will occur when you chip away at it.

I forgot what I was going to tell you about next because I just got a mental block, you know a writer’s block. I hate it when that happens, it becomes a real stumbling block for me. I think I was talking about chips, but I don't think it was about officer Poncherello or the chocolatey cookies. A cowpat seems out of the question because why would I be discussing dried cow chips. Maybe it was about blue chips since they were made with elderberries, after all its "A CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK " and we know it's an old block so they couldn't have used younger berries. Oh yeah that's right I was talking about " A CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK ".

Anyway, I know you all have been around the block and life isn't a blockbuster every day. There are two things that you probably don't like in life. The first is someone with a chip on their shoulder. Somehow the chip always makes the mouth and never between the seat and console with those folks. It's an immediate turn-off when encountering them. The second is someone who won’t chip in. Let's face it the wallet doesn't like daylight and you always seem to be busy with your time. What we fail to realize is that it's just the opposite for the building blocks of life. You may say it's time to cash in your chips ,but I have a better solution. I think you should call in your chips. That's right use your influence to gain advantage by calling on a higher power called Jesus. You see you were made by His Father in his likeness, He chiseled you off and bagged you up to be a part of Him here on earth. He gave you a crisp new start upon your birth, cut from His mold to help Him carry out His will for mankind. So, the next time Satan is trying to block you out, remember you have a bargaining chip. The help is only a chip shot away. You have a chip but, no not the french fry sandwich, even better, a savoir named Jesus because together you are both cut from God's mold, together you are "A CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK ".
